DUKE ROUFUS

Roufusport head coach and former K-1 kickboxing standout

YES

We will see Georges have a healthy time-out but he will come back. And when he does he’ll be healthier and more daring, and I think he’ll prefer to be the challenger. He’s very disciplined and likes to train a lot and he just needs some time out from carrying the mantel of champion; it’s a stressful experience. Georges is 101% committed to what he does and it’s impossible for him to turn off being the champion. You need to have some balance in life and while I understand he wants to be the best he also needs to have some other things in life. There has to be a balance with quality of life, or what’s the point?

‘KING MO’ LAWAL

AKA-based former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion

GSP has to do what’s best for GSP. He has been fighting for a very long time and I think maybe he just needs to step away from competition and enjoy life. He has been carrying the country of Canada on his shoulders for a decade or something already, and he’s got the pressure there of being a national hero. He has been fighting and representing an entire nation for so long and it’s burnt him out. Why not go out there and enjoy life, instead of fighting all the time, training all the time and traveling all the time to fight? Go out there and enjoy life. That’s what he’s got to do. And why not?

What you had to say on the matter...

“The question is, who will Georges St Pierre take the belt back from when he does return?”

@RASHEEDBULBULIA

“Georges has done so much for the sport why wouldn’t he want to bow out now; what challenge is there left for him?”

@ASHLEY_CONNOR04

YES

“St Pierre only has one last fight left in him. If he does come back it will be for a superfight.”

@CHRISDJOHN

YES

“Yes, he’s a legend of the sport and like with the last time he was off for a while he will come back hungry to compete again.”
