The current UFC flyweight submission specialist doesn’t like wearing wrestling boots – because he wouldn’t have them on in a real fight

TIGER MUAY THAI SHINPADS

“I’ve been using the Tiger Muay Thai ones full-time since I trained there last year. They do really good small sizes. Some of the shin guards come up a bit too high on the knee but these ones just seem to fit well. They’re probably some of the better ones I’ve had. They gave me a load of equipment and it’s all

quality gear.”

FARTEX MMA GLOVES

“I normally use the Fairtex and the Sandee ones. I’ve used them from the start, for years and years. They felt good on me and the quality you get from Thai-made ones seems to last well, and they just fit well. They’re just really well made. I’ve tried a few different ones, but I seem to keep going back to them. I’ve tried the Hayabusa ones and I’ve tried the PunchTown ones, and what have you, but these ones just suit me better. I don’t know if it’s because of the size of my hands or something, but they’re the ones I go back to.”

ADIDAS WRESTLING BOOTS

“I wear Adidas wrestling boots when I do wear them. But to be honest, I try not to, because obviously you don’t wear them in a fight so I try not to wear them too much unless I’ve got an ankle injury or something.”

TORQUE GLOVES

“At the moment I’ve got Torque ones which I’ve been using for a little while now. They’ve been quite good to me. Before that I was using ones I’d picked up in Thailand from Tiger Muay Thai which were pretty good. They gave me those for my last fight and they’re pretty good to use. They are pretty decent and I still keep a hold of them and switch between them.”

UFC DUFFEL BAG

“I carry all my gear in a UFC duffel bag. It’s pretty basic, but there’s space for everything; and for your sweaty gear after training, it’s got a little hole at the bottom to give it some air. Normally I just velcro my shinpads on the outside.”

SMUGGLING DUDS BOXER SHORTS

“I wear Smuggling Duds, both for training and in my regular life. They’re probably the only sports-orientated boxer shorts brand and they’re super comfy and feature handy little pockets for your cards and stuff. Although I’ve never actually trained with my credit cards in my underpants – that’s the truth!”
