Issue 111

February 2014

1. Greg has Mike in side control, with his right arm hooking underneath Mike’s left armpit and shoulder, his head on the mat and his left leg raised to allow Greg to strike with as much weight as possible.

2. Greg cocks his elbow so it’s looking towards Mike’s ear, then pulls his elbow towards his rib, extending the hand and landing a hammerfist to the side of Mike’s head.

3. After landing hammerfists, Greg raises his hand high so he’s able to gain optimum power for his forthcoming punches.

4. Greg turns his hand over so the knuckle is pointing toward Mike’s head and begins to land strikes from the top.

Pro Tip: If your opponent manages to grab your wrist to stop your from landing any more strikes, use that to allow you to lift your near-side knee and catch you opponent’s forearm then press it to the mat. You’re now in the dominant crucifix position.
