Kenny Johnson is one of the most esteemed wrestling coaches in MMA. Noted for his work with BJ Penn, he’s also taught Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida. He and RFA 135lb champion Pedro Munhoz present the best wrestling techniques for MMA

1. Kenny (left) shoots for a single-leg and Pedro blocks the shot with Kenny’s head on the inside.

2. Kenny circles towards Pedro’s back and punches his right elbow to the mat to stop Pedro from squaring up on him.

3. Kenny continues to circle to Pedro’s back while pressing his shoulder into Pedro’s hamstring.

4. Kenny captures Pedro’s ankle with his right knee to prevent Pedro from turning.

5. Kenny has Pedro’s ankle trapped and his hands are still locked while he is pressing forward.

6. Kenny unlocks his hands and posts his outside hand when Pedro pressures into him. This stops Pedro from pressing Kenny to his back. Kenny drops his chest low, creating space to limp-arm out. To limp-arm, Kenny turns his right palm to the ceiling while starting to pull and straighten his arm.

7. Kenny limp-arms out. He pulls the arm out and immediately lifts his chest. 8. Kenny finishes behind Pedro, controlling his hips, one hand on his arm and one hand on the far-side crotch pry.
