SATURDAY 30TH
Conditioning sprints in Albuquerque, New Mexico, running the hills with coach Greg Jackson in preparation for his fight against heavyweight veteran Gabriel Gonzaga at the TUF 17 Finale on April 13th.
APRIL 2013
MONDAY 1ST
‘Hapa’ takes a break from serious training to roll a little BJJ with his dog, Nacho. Later posts a photo online of a drawing by his niece, Arionna, which reads ‘Travis Hapa Browne is the most greatest fighter.’
THURSDAY 4TH
Powers through another gruelling day of training at the world-renowned Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA camp with wrestling coach Israel Martinez, striking coach Mike Valle and head striking coach Mike Winkeljohn.
FRIDAY 5TH
Completes his last wrestling practice of this fight camp before posting a group photo online with the Jackson-Winkeljohn team, including Leonard Garcia and UFC light heavyweight champ Jon ‘Bones’ Jones.
TUESDAY 9TH
After weeks of intense training with elite-level coaches and fighters, Browne leaves New Mexico for the bright lights of Las Vegas where he will meet Gonzaga inside the Octagon at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on Saturday.
THURSDAY 11TH
After sharpening his striking skills with coach Mike Valle, Travis seeks thrills outside of the fighting world as he gets behind the wheel at Exotics Racing race track with his partner, fitness/fashion model Jenna Renee. Unwinds later in the evening at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino.
FRIDAY 12TH
It’s weigh-in day in Vegas and Travis hits the scales at a lean and muscular 239lb before facing off against TUF 17 Finale opponent Gonzaga, who weighs in over 20lb heavier than Hapa.
SATURDAY 13TH
Browne earns a $50,000 ‘Knockout of the Night’ bonus after landing some heavy elbows to the head of his heavyweight adversary within the first two minutes. “We don’t get paid by the minute,” says the victor in a post-fight interview. A very happy Hapa celebrates his win at Lagasse’s Stadium at the Palazzo.
