Two globe-trotting weeks in the life of the former Pride champion
OCTOBER 2012
Friday 12th
Fresh from a caribou hunting trip to Adak Island, Alaska, Dan conducts a video interview with former UFC star Frank Trigg, discussing Team Quest teammate and training partner Dave Herman and his upcoming UFC 153 fight with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, who ‘Hendo’ has fought twice in the past.
Saturday 13th
Jumps on a plane headed for Singapore with partner Rachel for a ‘working’ holiday.
Sunday 14th
Arrives in Singapore and is met by long-time friend and Team Quest wrestling coach Heath Sims. As head of the wrestling program at Evolve MMA in Singapore, Sims has arranged for Dan to teach a seminar at Evolve the following Friday.
Monday 15th
Whilst checking out the nightlife Singapore has to offer, the Henderson party meets some local fans, before enjoying a cable car ride on Sentosa Island the following day.
Wednesday 17th
Henderson Tweets (@danhendo): ‘I guess I should just quit training to win fights and to be exciting for the fans and just go to s**t talking school. @danawhite’ showing his opinion of the UFC’s decision to match Chael Sonnen with Jon Jones for the next season of TUF instead of himself.
Thursday 18th
During a couple of days in Thailand, Dan kicks back and relaxes with partner Rachael. They visit Phuket and Maybay Island during the trip.
Friday 19th
Back in Singapore, Evolve MMA is packed to the rafters as Henderson teaches a seminar.
Saturday 20th
Catches a flight back to the US to keep a date with his kids.
Sunday 21st
Discovers his injured knee has its own Twitter account (@DanHendosKnee) and immediately follows it… Later, takes his kids to see the new MMA movie, starring Kevin James, Here Comes The Boom. “Just took the kids to see Here Comes the Boom,” Dan tells fans afterward. “We thought it was an awesome movie. So make sure you go see it if you haven’t already.”
Tuesday 23rd
Back on Twitter, Dan retweets a picture message from a fan of a ‘Hendo’ figure knocking out a Captain America doll.
Wednesday 24th
Following the passing of former Olympic gold medalist wrestler Jeff Blatnick, Dan publishes a quote from the one-time UFC commissioner, which reads: ‘I learned to win by learning to lose – that means not being afraid of losing.’ Later, he also retweets a post by Heath Sims featuring a cartoon of Sonnen holding up a line of the light heavyweight division’s leading title contenders.
