The most influential man in MMA history enjoys Strikeforce’s swan song before going under the knife

JANUARY 2013

WEDNESDAY 9TH 

Tweets a photo of himself hanging out with The Ultimate Fighter season 17 coach Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, stating: “Hangin with my favorite DIVA!!!! @jonnybones”

FRIDAY 11TH

Is forced to miss the Fifth Fighters Only World MMA Awards show as he is suffering from the flu. Despite his absence, White still reclaims the title of ‘Leading Man of the Year,’ which friend Nick ‘The Tooth’ accepts on his behalf.

SATURDAY 12TH

Spends the evening enjoying Strikeforce’s final event and is particularly impressed by the leg kicks of Tarec Saffiedine en route to his upset welterweight title victory over Nate Marquardt, cementing his place in history as the last-ever Strikeforce 170lb champion.

MONDAY 14TH

Departs for Los Angeles where he has surgery scheduled for 8.30am the following morning. After suffering with Meniere’s disease for a few years, Dana hopes to finally return to full health following this crucial procedure.

TUESDAY 15TH

Jokingly tweets a photo of ‘The Tooth’ dressed as a doctor at his bedside shortly before going under the knife. Wakes up several hours later following a successful surgery, feeling drowsy and with a sore throat, but otherwise healthy.

FRIDAY 18TH

After taking a few days to rest and recover following surgery, he returns to doing what he does best: selling fights. With UFC on FX 7 in Brazil due to take place the following night, Dana helps build the hype by posting staredown photos from the weigh-ins online.

SATURDAY 19TH

Tweets a photo of Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone rock climbing. He adds: “If he gets hurt I’m gonna f**king kill him!!!” The UFC president then spends the remainder of his evening watching the fights live on FX as he is still not well enough to attend the event in person. 

TUESDAY 22nd

It’s non-stop at the top, as Dana starts fight week for UFC on Fox featuring “Pettis vs Cerrone, Rampage vs Teixeira and Dodson vs Mighty Mouse.” And thanks fans for all the positive comments about the opening episode of TUF 17 on FX.

WEDNESDAY 23RD  

Lands in Montreal for Georges St Pierre vs Nick Diaz press conference by tweeting “YES Nick Diaz is here!!!” Then adding, “It’s 28 Below ZERO!!!! WTF!?”
