WHITE: STADIUM LESNAR-EMELIANENKO BOUT WAS NEARLY SIGNED
The UFC was close to arranging a superfight between former Pride heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko, and former UFC heavyweight king Brock Lesnar at 85,000-seat Cowboys Stadium, UFC president Dana White recently told reporters. Speaking during the post-UFC on Fox 6 press scrum, White said the promotion was in “deep talks” with ‘The Last Emperor’ until Emelianenko’s father passed away. White says he declined the offer wanting to spend the rest of his life with his family.
White said: “Remember when I met with him (Brock) and said it didn’t go well? It actually went well. It went well, and Brock wanted to fight Fedor. Then his (Fedor’s) dad died, and he was done.”
White said shortly afterward Brock said he was “’done too.’”
The UFC president added: “From what I understand, he has absolutely, positive made the decision not to fight ever again. (But) anything’s possible. I don’t know. When a guy says he wants to retire, you’re never going to see me chasing a guy who said he wants to retire.”

Kings MMA-trained Penne, 10-1, will put the leather she won in October on the line against Greg Jackson charge Waterson, 10-3, at Invicta 5 in California, the likely host being the UCI Bren Center in Irvine.
