The red-hot 20-5 Canadian reveals the gear that’s taken him from 170lb mainstay to 155lb contender

Forca Brand Gi

“I really like the Forca Brand gi, all the ones I’ve had are of a fantastic quality. I tend to wear a gi because I feel that if you train in a gi, you can transition to no-gi grappling pretty well, but if you don’t train in a gi you’ll struggle whilst wearing one.”

Locker

“I usually leave my boxing gear, shin guards, head guard and other equipment at the gym. I do take somethings with me, but most of my stuff is already there when I get there.”

10oz Winning Boxing Gloves

“When I hit pads I like to wear Winning gloves. They’re great for protection and they’re a quality glove that doesn’t break down. I’ve had a lot of different gloves that have broken down on me. I wouldn’t say I’ve got brittle hands, but I’ve definitely hurt my right hand in the past, and I want to keep the possibility of injury minimum, so I always wrap my hands and wear good solid gloves.”

Winning’s Stretchy Wraps

“I got these because they came with the glove and I’ve bought a few more ever since. I like them a lot because they feel great on your hands, there’s a lot to them. They’re a lot longer than a regular wrap, but they’re also thinner.”

KimuraWear Shin guards

“These really protect your shins well. They’re also really comfortable and that’s the key. They protect your foot too, and a lot of shin guards don’t do that. I’ve had different shin guards before, but they always seem to move around quite a bit, which these don’t.”

Water

“When I’m at the gym, I usually just drink water, but I do eat quite often. I always make sure I don’t go to the gym on an empty stomach and I always make sure there’s food in my belly. I’m also quick to have a protein shake after training or get some food right into me.”

Fight Dentist mouth guard

“These are just incredibly comfortable. I’ve never really had too many different mouthpieces, but I know that Fight Dentist definitely feels good and definitely does its job.”
