Cris Cyborg seeks 135-pound division, Rousey bout?

Former Strikeforce women’s featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos could be preparing to drop a weight division according to a somewhat cryptic Twitter reply from the Brazilian. After posting images of a newly slimmed-down physique via her account, Cyborg was asked if this meant she would return to the cage at 135lb. To which Santos replied: “Surprise.” Ronda Rousey is Strikeforce’s current bantamweight champ. Santos is still serving a one-year suspension dating back to a positive drugs test in December.

Lost star Matthew Fox gets shredded for MMA fighter role

Matthew Fox, who played the main protagonist in hit TV series Lost, has undergone a startling physical transformation for an upcoming role as an MMA fighter. Fox dropped a considerable amount of weight to play a shredded “psychotic mob hitman,” who it appears moonlights as a mixed martial artist in Alex Cross, an adaptation of a James Patterson novel. The film is set for a winter release.

EA Sports acquires UFC video game license

Massively successful video game publisher EA Sports has won the rights to produce UFC titles from THQ. The publisher of three installments of the well-received UFC Undisputed franchise, THQ’s streamlining of its business saw the company’s transfer of the license to the powerhouse company. EA Sports previously produced the cult, Strikeforce-focused title EA Sports MMA and is also responsible for the million-selling Madden, FIFA and Fight Night series.

Talk show host's son is badass fighter

The son of Montel Williams, host of the long-running talk show The Montel Williams Show, made his successful mixed martial arts debut in May. Xtreme Couture-associated welterweight Montel Williams Jr stopped opponent Charles Weast with strikes from the mount in just 28 seconds at Tuff-N-Uff: Festibrawl in Las Vegas.
