This elk-eating, ‘Pitbull’-beating Bellator lightweight ain’t called ‘Cupcake’ for nothing
What are the five essentials inside your fridge?
“You’ve got to have spinach, eggs, any type of berries, some kind of meat. I’m a huge fan of elk meat. And Greek yoghurt because you’ve got to keep some healthy enzymes with you incase you get sick.”
Do you have a cheat meal when you’re training?
“I can’t live without a cheat meal (laughs). I cut a lot of weight so I have to watch it, but I still enjoy a good cheat meal. I know if I work my butt off it won’t matter what I have, and I can eat what I want – which is usually huge steaks, with bacon on it, plus some big mushrooms.”
Do you keep anything other than frozen peas in your freezer?
“I don’t keep peas in there, I keep ice packs (laughs). I also like to keep coffee in the freezer along with some meat.”
What is your favorite bottled sauce?
“I like to go to the farmers’ market and buy this vinegar and pomegranate sauce. I like to put that on a lot of my food.”
If you could have any dessert in the world, what would it be?
“It would have to be a cupcake, man. There’s a cupcake shop in Montana called Cowboy’s Cupcakes. I gave them out during the weigh-ins for my last fight and they’re delicious.”
What is your own signature dish?
“I call it an ‘Ass Whoopin’ Salad.’ I slice up all the ingredients really fine. The lettuce, tomato, cucumbers and everything else are thrown into it and I have it like that. No crazy preparation, just straight up thrown in. That’s what you call an ‘Ass Whoopin’ Salad.’”
What is your favorite meal during fight camp?
“My favorite meal would probably be any kind of red meat. To be honest, I like any type of meat. I’m a big fan of cow and I love steaks.”
What food do you look forward to most after a fight?
“Alcohol (laughs). I like my whiskey and scotch. A little tequila after a fight is good too.”
What nationality of food is your favorite?
“You’ve got to think that the Italians have got it right; they make some awesome food. They definitely know what they’re doing in that department.”
What is your least favorite food?
“I’m not a big fan of unauthentic Asian food. There’s some really good Chinese food in the US, but a lot of it I don’t really like.”
