The former UFC heavyweight champion confesses his love of baked goods and explains how his wife keeps him well fed all year round

Name the five must-haves in your ice box.

“Ketchup, eggs, Julian bread, sunflower mayonnaise and milk.”

What do you gorge on?

“Pasta, but I try to keep things as healthy as possible with stuff like Barilla pasta.”

What do you cheat with?

“I like baked stuff. I’m not much of a candy guy. I like stuff like cinnabuns.”

Do you keep anything other than frozen peas in your freezer?

“I have a ton of ice packs in there. My wife nearly threw them away because we have so many.”

What is your favorite bottled sauce?

“Tiger sauce. It’s like a kind of sweet sauce.”

What desert do you enjoy?

“All kinds of pies and cakes.”

What is your own signature dish?

“Scrambled eggs. That’s about all I know how to do. When my wife’s not around I’ll just crack a dozen eggs and scramble them.”

What is your favorite meal during fight camp?

“I just always look forward to lunch because I always take a nap right afterwards. It’s my biggest meal of the day. Dinners are always so light and more health conscious because I can’t have carbs. Lunches are always more carb-rich.”

What meal do you eat after the weigh-in?

“I don’t really have anything consistently, but whenever I fight in Vegas I always get sushi because I like to stay simple. So raw salmon and white rice is good.”

What food do you look forward to most after a fight?

“In-N-Out Burger. I go nuts there, they see me for about a month straight. I’ll be in two or three times a week.”

Which nationalities food is you favorite?

“Cuban. I like to eat it whenever I get the chance to go to one of those Cuban delicacy restaurants or when I go to my father’s house. Yuca and picadillo are a couple of my favorites.”

Do you keep anything inedible in your fridge?

“Nothing inedible really. I keep some of my fish oils and other supplements in there but that’s about it.”

WHICH…?

Pepsi or Coke? “Neither, we drink natural sodas.”

Milk or Beer? “Beer.”

Margarine or Butter? “Butter.”

Salt or Pepper? “Salt.”

Chocolate or Cheese? “Cheese.”

Brown Bread or White Bread? “White.”

Pasta or Rice? “Pasta.”

Sweet or Savory? “Savory.”

Your mom’s cooking or your wife’s cooking? “My wife’s. C’mon guys, I want to wake up tomorrow.”
