FO delves into the fridge of an Ultimate Fighter winner and discovers a liking for Iranian delicacies and ‘illegal’ Wendy’s...
Name the leading five must-haves in your refrigerator?
“Eggs, sweet potatoes – though I never eat them, fruit, fresh spices and seasoning.”
What do you cheat with?
“I only cheat when I am out, I never have stuff like that at home. But I will grab fast food now and again.”
Do you keep anything other than frozen peas in your freezer?
“Batteries. My momma taught me that trick.”
What is your favorite bottled sauce?
“Worcestershire sauce, the real thick stuff.”
What dessert do you enjoy?
“Brownies and ice cream.”
What is your own signature dish?
“There is an Iranian dish that I’ve been working on, which is basically like a boiled spinach and red meat dish. I’ve not perfected it yet though.”
What is your favorite meal during fight camp?
“Salads. Good ones, mixed with like fish and stuff. They’re refreshing and make you feel like you’re eating a lot of food.”
What meal do you eat after the weigh-in?
“I usually get to an Iranian restaurant and eat some national food.”
What food do you look forward to most after a fight?
“After a fight I do nothing but eat junk food for a whole week, and it reminds me how much I hate it. I’ll go to Wendy’s at midnight and stuff, but when I drive away I feel ashamed. Like I’m doing something illegal.”
Which nationality of food is your favorite?
“I am probably bias towards Iranian food because of my background, but I really like Vietnamese food too. That’s my second favorite.”
What is your least favorite type of food?
“I am more into healthy food so there are a few things, like ‘soul’ food, that I just wouldn’t really eat. But that said that type of food is really tasty, so I guess there isn’t any type of food that I don’t like.”
What are your three favorite meals?
“Eggs on a bagel, for breakfast, sushi for lunch and kabab barg, an Iranian dish, for dinner. The perfect day.”
