The explosive Ultimate Fighter alumni always carries a rope and recommends you don’t try kicking him below the belt

TOPICAL OINTMENT

“I use Biofreeze and Orthogel. They treat the soreness and muscle cramps that I get from all the punches and kicks during training. They’re great after training. They make you feel really good.”

FAIRTEX GLOVES

“These are my favorite gloves. When I put these on I feel like I’m ready to go. They’re pretty much what I fight in when I’m training. I like to be prepared so I like to have a pair of fight gloves with me at all times.”

SHOCK DOCTOR STEEL CUP

“When I wear this, if someone kicks me in the balls it hurts them more than it hurts me. It has a gel surface around the edges, that way it doesn’t hurt [when I get kicked].”

COCONUT WATER

“You’ve got to stay hydrated and coconut water has the highest amount of potassium [of any drink]. When I’m cutting weight it’s really important that I have that inside of me.”

OLYMPIC JUMP ROPE

“I’m always working on my footwork and trying to improve it. I like to have a good warm-up before practice and jumping rope is a great way to do that. It’s always good to have a rope.”

THE WRAP WRENCH

“This is a really good product. Sometimes it takes a long time to wrap up all your wraps after training, especially if you’ve been doing two or three different workouts. You can go through all your wraps really quickly and washing them so that they’re clean for your next practice can be very time consuming. The Wrap Wrench saves you some time.”

PROTEIN ISOLATE

“I like to take this after every work out. That way I have maximum absorption. The brand I have at the moment is Intek but I’ll have whatever I can get my hands on.”

16oz TWINS BOXING GLOVES

“These are the first pair of gloves that I ever bought. Everything else that I have has been handed down to me, so I feel good about those gloves and I feel good every time I put them on.”

GLOVE STUFFERS

“They have some cedar wood chips in there and they will save the life of the glove. When you’ve had your gloves on during a long, hard day of training, the moisture inside the gloves will start to eat away at lining. These help to suck up some of that moisture so that the glove is preserved for longer. You can buy them at running stores and places like that.”

HAYABUSA GYM BAG

“I’ve had a lot of gym bags that have torn and broken. Also, with a lot of regular gym bags your stuff will stay wet and moist inside them after training. This is a ventilated bag so all the air can get in and all your stuff gets a chance to dry. I’ve got a long drive from Pasadena to Huntington Beach so it’s a great bag for me because by the time I get home most of my stuff is dry and it’s ready to go in the wash.”

CENTURY SHIN GUARDS

“I got those from The Ultimate Fighter and they’ve lasted me for the past couple of years. They fit well and they’re really comfortable. They’re very good.”

KNUCKLE PADS

“I use the pads on the top of my hands so that

all the little phalanges aren’t moving around when I’m punching.”

WRESTLING SHOES

“Wrestling is a big part of my game so I’ve got to have a good pair of wrestling shoes so that every time I step onto the mat I’m ready to go.”
