REAL TALK
I’ve really enjoyed this series of The Ultimate Fighter, but even though I’m British myself, I’m really rooting for Team Miller. One thing I can’t stand is how people can’t take Mayhem’s jokes and laid-back attitude. Everyone feels the need to act ‘the hard man’ and it’s pathetic. MMA is a sport, it’s not war, and some fighters need to remember that. Miller just likes to speak his mind instead of feeling the need to put a tough-guy act on. What’s so wrong with that? That goes out to a certain group who felt the need to act like yobs a while back.

GO WITH THE ‘FLO’
After observing the fallout from UFC 136 where fans were calling for Kenny Florian to retire after failing to beat José Aldo for the 145lb belt, I have to ask, what planet are these people living on? Fine, a guy gets three title shots in his UFC career and doesn’t win one. Why does that mean a healthy, competitive and interesting fighter should hang up his gloves? It might appear like he’s never going to take a title, and it would be hard to justify giving him a fourth shot (although with fighters frequently falling injured you never know), but the fight game is about two things: winning belts and making money. It might not be sensible to place Florian on another title run but there are still plenty of exciting, dollar-producing fights out there for him. Between the featherweight and lightweight divisions there’s guys like Leonard Garcia, Ben Henderson, Jim Miller, Anthony Pettis, Nam Phan, ‘The Korean Zombie,’ Mark Hominick, Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz, Evan Dunham, Spencer Fisher or even a Sean Sherk rematch. Just look at a guy like Rich Franklin, he’s been highly entertaining in feature bouts since losing for the second time against Anderson Silva and having the door shut on the 185lb belt. ‘Ken Flo’ might be 35 but there’s plenty of fight left in him yet.
