Bellator plans video game for summer
World number-two promotion Bellator FC will release a video game this summer, titled Bellator MMA Onslaught. It’s set to provide a pick-up-and-play arcade-style experience that “doesn’t need a doctorate in gaming or MMA to enjoy.” Players will use the existing Bellator roster or their own created fighter either online or locally, where they can compete in one-off bouts, a tournament mode in the spirit of the grand prix-focused Bellator format or in a ‘Path to Glory’ career mode. Bellator MMA Onslaught will be a downloadable title available via Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
Dan Hardy moonlights as feline foster father
British UFC welterweight Dan Hardy is working double time fostering homeless cats at his home in Las Vegas. His philanthropy has even helped him win the ‘Kramer Award’ from the East Lake Pet Orphanage in Dallas, Texas, for both his work with his feline friends and his stance against recreational hunting. Hardy has adopted both a cream tabby and a brown-gray tabby amongst others. He next fights veteran striker Duane ‘Bang’ Ludwig at UFC 146 at the end of May.
UFC vet Hamill has dedicated brand of beer
Former UFC light heavyweight Matt Hamill has his own batch of beer. Named ‘The Hammer’, it’s a special run of Adirondack amber lager from specialist brewer Saranac of Utica, New York – also home to Hamill. Information on the tipple is scarce, though it first came to light when a gleeful Hammer posed with the bottles for his Twitter feed. Hamill retired from mixed martial arts following back-to-back losses to ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Alexander Gustafsson. For more information about the special ‘Hammer’ beer visit saranac.com.
Canadian painting company 'uses' Pride logo
A painting company in British Colombia, Canada, is representing itself with an altered version of the logo of Pride FC, the defunct Japanese MMA promotion. Using the catch line, ‘We paint every project with pride’, Pride Painting has adopted the image but the lightning bolt held by the fist in the center of the graphic is switched for a paint roller, the ‘FC’ is changed to ‘RC’ and ‘Fighting Championships’ to ‘Painting Company Ltd’. There’s also a twin outfit called Pride Home Care that performs such things as power washing and window cleaning and has a squeegee in place of the lightning bolt in the logo.
