ROUND 1: AROUND THE OCTAGON
What age did you start training?
I started judo at eight years old, then taekwondo aged 12, Muay Thai at 13 and jiu-jitsu at 15
How quick was your fastest knockout?
I stopped Sammy Morgan in 47 seconds, I choked him with a rear-naked choke.
Toughest opponent faced?
Anderson Silva, he was my first match aged 17. I fought him over three 10-minute rounds!
Favorite part of training camp?
Striking training. I have fun trying to improve my stand-up – I feel like I’m learning every day.
Fight of the Night or Submission of the Night?
‘Fight of the Night’ for sure. The more time in the Octagon the better.
ROUND 2: PERSONAL LIFE
Any pets?
I have a bulldog named Ziggy.
Skimmed milk or ice-cold beer?
I don’t drink either of those.
How many Twitter/Facebook followers have you got?
I have been on Facebook just two weeks and already have over 1,000 friends.
Who is your hero?
In general, Jesus Christ. But also my Dad. He keeps my family together, he is my hero.
Who is your ideal woman?
My one, Leticia Ribeiro. I cannot have another!

… stolen anything from a hotel?
I always take the conditioner and the shampoo, so I can use it in the gym afterwards.
… dropped food on the floor but eaten it anyway?
Erm, no [nervous giggle, clearly lying].
… had a crush on a friend’s mother?
What? Come on… no. All of my friend’s mothers are pretty old.
… killed your dinner?
No. I have never had that chance.
… considered taking a bullet for someone?
Good question. I would take a bullet for Rudy, the manager at the gym, he’s a nice guy.
Finally, if you could choose your teammate’s next opponent who would it be?
I would like to see him fight GSP. He’s at the top and one day Galvao will reach that.

At 14 I started with judo, then jiu-jitsu aged 17.
How quick was your fastest knockout?
First-round submission, an armbar, against Mike Gomez in about three minutes (3:59).
Toughest opponent faced?
My last opponent, Tyron Woodley, was very strong.
Favorite part of training camp?
Aside from my day off? [laughs] No, I like the conditioning.

‘Submission of the Night’ is better.

I prefer beer to milk.
