Tapout to sponsor NFL's Chad Ochocinco

MMA apparel giant TapouT is continuing to branch outside of mixed martial arts by signing notorious NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco to the TapouT Pro stable. The California company, which was bought in 2010 by Authentic Brands Group, will equip the Cincinnati Bengals player with TapouT mouth guards, sweatbands and powerbands. Ochocinco joins other mainstream athletes such as the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane on the TapouT Pro roster.

Dana teases big plans before year's end

UFC boss Dana White says there will be big developments in the world’s most successful MMA organization before 2012. White, who recently announced full fighter insurance just months after the UFC bought Strikeforce, its nearest rival, said the Las Vegas company has plans that will “blow everyone’s minds.” There is speculation it could be a major US television deal that would bolster the UFC’s popularity. He told Karyn Bryant: “There’s good stuff coming. It ain’t over yet.” Your guesses on a postcard please.

Interactive UFC pay-per-views for XBox Live

Scrap fans can soon catch UFC pay-per-views via Xbox Live. UFC president Dana White made the announcement at the E3 expo and revealed viewers will be able to use the service to compete against their friends. Although details are scant, the presentation suggests voting polls and supplemental video, such as training and weigh-in footage, will be available. The Xbox online gaming service has 35 million users worldwide.

Miletich honored by Wrestling Hall of Fame museum

UFC legend and current ESPN MMA Live analyst Pat Miletich has been honored by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. Miletich, who was the first UFC welterweight champion, received the inaugural ‘George Tragos Award’ earlier this month for his ability to use his wrestling pedigree to excel in the sport of MMA. Miletich wrestled in both junior college and high school before mixed martial arts.
