An indignant Alistair Overeem stands over jiu-jitsu ace Fabricio Werdum during the main event of Strikeforce: Overeem vs Werdum in June. The pair’s Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix match-up, pitting Overeem’s powerful K-1 level stand-up against Werdum’s Fedor-beating grappling, was one of the most anticipated bouts of the year. It devolved into a disappointing affair with Werdum dropping to guard to escape Overeem’s hands at any opportunity, then trying to beckon an uncooperative ‘Demolition Man’ to the mat. The cat and mouse tilt lasted the full 15 with the Dutchman coming out the victor.
