He may be known as ‘The Outlaw’ yet Dan Hardy can’t steal a win right now – we dive into his ice box to see if his current losing streak is diet related.

Name the leading five must-haves in your ice box?

“Chicken, hummus, fruit (usually mango, melon, pineapple, grapes and apples), mixed vegetable stir-fry and coconut oil.”

What do you gorge on?

“During training camp my treats are fruit and the occasional piece of organic dark chocolate. Out of training camp, cookies.”

What do you cheat with?

“Either fish and chips or Chinese, well... Lemon chicken and egg fried rice. I never order anything else.”

Do you keep anything other than frozen peas in your freezer?

“Just ice packs and frozen broccoli. I have a ham and pineapple pizza in there from about three years ago, but I doubt that will ever get eaten. I’ve grown quite attached to it though, so I will probably keep it.”

What is your favorite bottled sauce?

“During training camp I have reduced salt and sugar ketchup but if I could have anything, I have a thing for sweet chilli mayonnaise.”

What desert do you enjoy?

“My favorite is a cinnamon waffle with vanilla ice cream, covered in hot fudge sauce. Makes me hungry just thinking about it.”

What is your own signature dish?

“I would have to say my Thai green curry is probably the best, although my super pancakes are pretty awesome.”

What is your favorite meal during fight camp?

“It changes from one fight to another. For my last fight it was salmon stir-fry, cooked in coconut oil with a little Thai spice and soy sauce.”

What meal do you eat after the weigh-in?

“We have a Rough House tradition for fights in the UK, we always go to Nando’s. If I’m fighting away from home, it depends what’s around, but it is usually rice and chicken in some form.”

What food do you look forward to most after a fight?

“Cookies, I can eat them until I’m sick. I’m almost embarrassed to admit that.”

Which nationality of food is your favorite?

“British! Fish and chips or beans on toast and a nice cup of tea.”

Anything in there inedible?

“Erm... no, apart from the packaging!”

LOVE

Tea, pepper and brown bread

LOVE TO HATE

Coffee, salt and white bread

Which. . .

Pepsi or Coke? “I’m more of a root beer kind of guy really.”

Milk or beer? “It’s been 11 years since I drank alcohol so I guess milk, but I only have it in tea.”

Marj’ or butter? “Butter.”

Chocolate or cheese? “Both, at the same time.”

Sweet or savory? “Savory followed by sweet. Can’t really separate them can you?”

Cooking: wife/girlfriend or mother? “Oooh, now you are trying to get me in trouble! With meat – mother. Without meat – the missus.”
