July 2010

Best known for his sinus-shattering head kick finish against Chris Horodecki at WEC 45, Anthony ‘The Assassin’ Njokuani (or Njoku as he prefers) has a kitbag heavy on the ‘looks’.

It’s only appropriate, considering the Nigerian-American striker is always looking to give fans the highlight-reel ending he and all the other WEC lightweights are well known for. Considering each of his WEC wins has been crowned with ‘Knockout of the Night’ honors, ‘The Assassin’ is a good bet for it as well.

Kitbag

I love the Tokyo Five gym bag because you’ve got a lot of compartments, it’s roomier and I love the looks. It’s great, it’s wonderful, I love it.

Hayabusa Gloves

I love the way the Hayabusa gloves feel. It’s a firm fit, it fits my hands comfortably, it has great wrist protection and also the look of them – very comfortable.

Hayabusa Shin Guards

Yeah same thing goes for the shinpads. They’re easier to put on, the way they feel up against your skin, the look, the texture, everything. Everything’s great about it.

Windy Sparring Gloves

I use the Windy gloves for my protection and also for my sparring partner’s protection. The 16oz gloves are the best type of gloves to use when you’re sparring because you don’t want to hurt the person that’s helping you out to get ready. So that’s why I use the Windy because the way they’re built is very comfortable for me and for my sparring partner.

WEC Gloves

Really, to tell you the truth I’ve given away almost all of my MMA gloves. I use the WEC gloves because that’s pretty much all I have (laughs). Everybody wants my MMA gloves so the WEC gloves are all I have right now. Plus I like the way it looks, and it allows everybody to know what organization I fight for. I’m very proud to be promoting them like that.

TapouT Nutrition Supplements

I love the TapouT nutrition. The glutamine is wonderful, I take that. It helps me recover extremely fast and, me being at it all day as you know, I need something like that.

Custom ‘Assassin’ Mouthpiece

The custom mouthpiece was actually made by Manumission [Fightceuticals]. It’s a great mouthpiece. It fits my mouth very comfortably. It won’t fall out. The look of it’s a whole lot better than the first ‘Assassin’ mouthpiece that I had. They put the name right. There was one company that misspelled ‘Assassin’, they made it too short, but I like the way [Manumission] came out with mine. The other one was ‘Asacion’ – I’m not French or anything, I don’t know what was going on with that.

Headgear

The reason I use that kind of headgear, the open face one, is the way it allows me to breathe more and it also gives more protection for my chin, for my cheeks and allows me to see what’s on the side of me and what’s in front of me. The other headgears I’ve used in the past weren’t really all that good and that’s the reason I chose that headgear because it works a whole lot better for me.

Jaco Cup and Compression Shorts

My badass Jaco cup, it’s like the best cup ever. It fits a whole lot better than any other cup that I’ve ever worn. It doesn’t move around, it stays where it’s supposed to in the compression shorts, and that’s a good thing they came out with the compression shorts because they keep it from moving around. Because you know, somehow a ball can fall out from the side or whatever, you don’t want that (laughs).
