The 15 or 25 minutes a fighter spends in the ring engaged in combat is but a mere fraction of their life. The real battles are fought not under the spotlights, but far away from the cameras and crowds. The many hours fighters must spend in the gym will see them test their very limits, both physical and mental. Few get to see this process, but the clues are there – like this pair of well-worn gloves, which can be found in the Yoshida Dojo in Tokyo, Japan, home to top Japanese fighters Hidehiko Yoshida, Kazuhiro Nakamura and Michihiro Omigawa.
