Burn Machine: the new workout device that’s setting MMA gyms on fire.

It’s the biggest thing to hit MMA gyms since kettlebells. The Burn Machine is a halfway-house between free weights and machines that’s confounded cynics and taken the MMA world by storm. Advocates include Anderson Silva, who was pictured using the device in the run-up to UFC 112.

Why? Because the Burn Machine in its three different incarnations (pictured is the ‘Speed Bag’) is ideal for working the muscle groups used in combat sports: core, abdominals, plus upper and lower body strength in general. It also assists co-ordination, grip strength and even breathing. Heavier than it looks, the Speed Bag Burn Machine here replicates the act of undergoing bag work on, yes, the speed bag, but can even be used to develop your uppercuts. Also available are the Universal Burn Machine and the Ultimate Burn Machine – the latter’s the former with extra weight options – that boasts a counterweight to test core muscles and rotating handles to isolate muscle groups in a safer way to conventional dumbbells. All are portable enough to be taken to the gym and stored in smaller living spaces. Instructional clips are avalialble on theburnmachine.com website. Feel the burn.
