Dana White met with 30 US service members stationed in Germany after the weigh-ins at UFC 122 in Oberhausen, Germany. White requested a meeting with the troops the previous day and UFC UK boss Marshall Zelaznik made it happen. Two German service members joined the group. Despite Zuffa’s political troubles in Germany, the sport is catching on.

Total strikes thrown by Lyoto Machida and ‘Rampage’ Jackson in the main event at UFC 123. Rampage was the busier man with 91 strikes thrown. Machida threw 59 strikes during the three-round Jackson split decision.

There have been 153 UFC events between the first time the promotion held a Michigan card (UFC 9) and the second (UFC 123). The first had a controversial main event as Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock were supposed to throw only open-hand strikes and danced around for 30 minutes.

At UFC 123 troubled UFC vet Karo Parisyan’s return to the UFC Octagon lasted only 107 seconds. His opponent, another old hand in Dennis Hallman, ended Parisyan’s night and UFC contract with a TKO after the latter had been away from the promotion for almost 20 months and one fight…

…Speaking of Hallman, he still owns the two fastest finishes over Matt Hughes, but barely. At UFC 123 BJ Penn did his best to top Hallman’s mark, but fell just short with a knockout at 21 seconds of round one. Hallman stopped Hughes twice previously, once in 17 seconds and the other in 20.

With a spectacular UFC 122 rear naked choke of Andre Winner, Russian-German national Dennis Siver has gone 5-1 since returning to the UFC. That finish earned Siver ‘Submission of the Night.’ During his current run in the promotion he’s bagged two ‘Knockout of the Night’ awards and a ‘Fight of the Night’.

Number of minutes after ‘Stitch’ Duran had wrapped his hands before Jorge Rivera learned his fight with Alessio Sakara was canceled due to Sakara being sick. “I'd finished wrapping his hands five minutes earlier when they came in and said the fight was off because Alessio was throwing up. Crazy!” said Stitch.
