Would Dana White’s degree from the University of Life (or the University of South Boston, as he calls it) suffice in his address in front of the Oxford Union? It’s an age-old, learned society that has included modernist thinkers and philosophers, opinion formers and pre-eminent scientists. Malcolm X, three US presidents, several British prime ministers, and stars of sport and screen have been invited to offer an address in the Union debating chamber. In time, the significance of White’s investiture into this exclusive club will be feted in the annals of MMA history. A single disappointment was that White’s publicists had chosen against the prospect of his facing the world debating champion in a for and against ten-minute verbal tussle on the merits of MMA as a sport.
