Dropping ‘bombs’ in Afghanistan, UFC style

“There are a lot of safety concerns,” said Dana White of hosting an event in the war-torn Central Asian country of Afghanistan. But that isn’t going to stop the UFC from hosting a ‘Fight for the Troops’ event within the next couple of months. The event may not even make it to television in any form, a first for the UFC. The company regularly sends its top stars to visit troops in the Middle East, and has raised over $6 million for wounded troops.

Dana wants Fedor BAD

Fedor Emelianenko has become Dana White’s “obsession”, the UFC president has revealed. Does that mean we may see the mythical Russian step into the Octagon soon? “I want it worse than the fans want it,” said White, who revealed he spoke with the heavyweight’s managers “more recently than you would think.” Fedor is currently under contract with Strikeforce and M-1 Global though, and White said he “would never interfere with someone else’s contract.” That means we could have to wait, but the forecast is at least positive.

Chuck gets Madame Tussauds treatment

UFC legend Chuck Liddell will become the first MMA star to be immortalized in wax when he is added to the display of celebrities at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas. The 40-year-old kickboxer’s figure will go on display inside a UFC Octagon along with his trunks and his championship belt. Fans will be able to check out the waxwork from May at the famed collection, which is located in front of the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.

Alistair Overeem has the coolest T-shirt collection

He’s been spotted in T-shirts including one bearing an image of Che Guevara, a bright orange shirt that said “Have fun with me, I’m rich and famous”, and even one with a picture of Popeye the Sailor and the slogan “Spinach: The more you eat, the stronger you are”, proving Overeem’s wardrobe is as well stocked as his shelf full of supplements.
