It’s an Under Armour bag, I was on The Ultimate Fighter and Gray Maynard had one, it was a big bag and it held everything – boxing gloves, protein, all that kind of stuff.
Combat Sports MMA Sparring Gloves
Those gloves are a hell of a lot better than the ‘normal’ MMA gloves because when you’ve got the individual fingers your fingers can get caught, you get cuts and abrasions, so it’s definitely better to have the rounded gloves. There’s a little more padding on them, they’re bigger than the gloves we train in and they give much more protection. I’ve been using them for about four or five years now – I’ve probably gone through a couple of pairs in that time but they are getting used every single day.
Fight Gear Air Max Head Guard
It’s called Air Max, it’s an awesome head guard. A lot of times people don’t like to wear a head guard but it’s a real good idea, not just for punches but for head butts and stuff like that. A head guard goes a long way for longevity.
Ringside Boxing Gloves
The IMF Tech gloves, they’re great gloves. I’m not sure what it is but there is something special about the foam on the inside – I like them a lot. The other great thing is boxing gloves always stink, they get real bad, but you can’t open them up quite a bit, you can almost turn them inside out and air them. The fold-over, other gloves you have to put duck tape on and it gets gunked up and nasty, but these are awesome because you’ve got the elastic band that goes over the strap.
Sprawl Shorts
I’ve always liked Sprawl shorts, the enclosure and the waistband and stuff like that. The newest ones, the ‘fusion’, are awesome because they have a waistband inside that you can tie plus an enclosure, and they put a rubber strip on the inside so they stay in place and don’t ride up.
Shock Doctor Compression Shorts and Cup
When you’re doing grappling and things like that you really don’t want someone’s knee shifting the cup out of the way, making things more difficult. I always go boxers, compression shorts and regular shorts on top. I got the Shock Doctor shorts and the cup came with them, but it is a steel cup. It’s actually steel with a rubber coating around it.
Asics Kneepad
Asics gel kneepads. My knees are always getting busted up. I’ve had ACL surgery on my knee, I’ll always do anything I can to protect my joints. It protects my knee from getting burns when shooting in, and above all else it keeps my knee nice and warm and prevents injury.
Mouthpiece
The mouthpiece is from Fight Dentist. He’s done a couple of different ones for me because my dog ate one and I lost another. They did them for us on Ultimate Fighter. I’ve had other fitted mouthpieces but these are by far the best. They really hold up. I have to pry the thing out of my mouth, I couldn’t spit it out if I wanted to. You can tell the difference when you’re getting hit and you’ve got a good mouthpiece instead of a boil-and-bite one.
Ringside Hand Wraps
Those are the Mexican hand wraps, they’re a little bit longer. I do a little bit of different wrapping than a traditional boxer, so having the extra length in the wrap makes a big difference. A lot of times I’ll use tape and gauze, we’ll do pretty much a full wrap like we would for a fight. Pretty much any time I box, when I do anything intense, we do a full wrap. I’ll spend a couple of hundred bucks per fight on tape and gauze but it goes a long way.
