Jens Pulver back in training
Former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver has confirmed a return to mixed martial arts. Rumors of his retirement began to circulate following a recent string of losses.
Pulver is 1-6 in his last seven fights, and has won only one fight since 2006. As yet there are no details who he may fight, but WEC boss Reed Harris told Fighters Only the organization is in talks with Pulver regarding a return to the blue-canvassed cage.
GSP: MMA’s premier athlete
If there was any doubt that Georges St Pierre was one of the foremost athletes in MMA, would a second major sponsorship change your mind?
Already a spokesperson for sports drink Gatorade, the Canadian superstar has just signed a multi-year deal with clothing giant Under Armour. Next stop: World domination.
Silva “not fighting Belfort in January”
Anderson Silva’s manager Ed Soares has said he is definitely not fighting Vitor Belfort in January.
“He’s not fighting January 2nd. That’s not going to happen. He won’t be ready,” said Soares. “We have to wait and see. Anderson went back to Brazil and he’s continuing his physical therapy there. There’s no set date yet.
“Anderson’s recovery is going really, really well. His physical therapy is going really well. He’s getting better range of motion. He’ll be back 100% for sure.”
Soares disputes claims that Silva doesn’t want to fight Belfort and is buying time. “Whoever the UFC puts in front of us, we’ll fight. We’ve never picked our opponents,” he said.
War Machine becomes Porn Machine
Just when you thought the fighter formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver couldn’t possibly do or say anything crazier than he already has, he proves you wrong again. And again. And again.
War Machine (he legally changed his name) has embarked upon a new career as a porn ‘actor’. “The money is very lucrative. I think from now on I’ll be focusing on the porn. I’m still going to fight because that’s my passion. My priority right now is to make good money and feed the War Machine. I’ve been fighting for seven years and I make a living but I don’t make enough money to save. I’m never going to be able to have enough to buy a house or buy a cool car,” he explained to MiddleEasy.com.
‘Porn Machine’ then told of his first experience on an adult-movie set, revealing that the “performance anxiety” he suffered was similar to that before a fight. “I was nervous as hell, more nervous than any other fight I’ve ever had – terrified. It’s no joke. Before the scene, I really didn’t know what to do. I thought ‘should I shadowbox?’”
