LETER OF THE MONTH
A true fan
John McBride from Kettering is such a TRUE fan. He wore his Fighters Only T-shirt to the birth of his new baby boy, Harvey Malcom John McBride born on 21st November 2008, a healthy 6lb 10oz. John is a massive fan of MMA and the UFC, and told us he is looking forward to working with Harvey in the future, ‘a martial artist in the making.’ Congratulations on your new arrival from all at Fighters Only.
The endless battle
Your article ‘The Endless Battle’ was a very interesting read. As much as the cage has become a major part of MMA, even to the point of companies including it in their names and logos, I still think long-term switching to a roped ring will help the sport grow and progress. At the moment the UFC is huge but to the mainstream audience who some times tune in I think it is still thought of as a form of human cock fighting.
How many times have I tried to tell someone about the positives of MMA only to be countered with “they are a bunch of animals because they have to fight each other in a cage”? It doesn’t matter how much I tell them about the benefit of the cage for the safety of the fighters. I think that if some sort of roped ring could be found to work perfectly for MMA, we could phase out the use of the cage and our sport can go on to get the mainstream coverage and respect it fully deserves.

I hope I find all well at the FO office. Just finishing off my leave after returning from the tour in Afghanistan and decided to send you these photos with FO magazine and the t-shirts you sent, they were well received and appreciated by all.
Fighters Only kept us occupied and entertained while out in Afghan during Op Herrick, and I hope I have introduced a few new readers to the mag; I have definitely introduced a few new fans to MMA.

Yo,
I recently trained at Xtreme Couture, Las Vegas for 4 weeks. Fantastic gym, really good trainers and a great team spirit and atmosphere. I even managed to wear Forrest Griffin’s sparring gear by mistake! I took some photos of the gym with John Alessio and Gray Maynard who train there, might be good for your gallery page in the mag.
Keep up the good work.
