Things we hear, things we see, things we know.

BJ Penn is pound for pound the best fighter in the world

There is simply no argument to the fact that Penn has the best all-round skills set of any MMA fighter on thr planet. One day he will be looked back upon as the Muhammed Ali of MMA.

The Japanese MMA scene loves freak matches

Bob Sapp (6’5” 350lbs) vs Bobby Olugun (6’1” 215lbs)  Fedor (6’ 230lbs) vs Hong Man Choi (7’2” 360lbs). Minowa (5’9” 180lbs) vs Zuluzinho (6’7” 390lbs) . Not only crazy, but a little weird too. We don’t like it.

Tito Ortiz has a big head

As if we didn’t already know this, but Tito feels the need to tell us in no uncertain terms what he thinks of himself. “I think I invented pretty much everything that comes to the UFC,” he said. Aside from his shaky command of grammar (also seen in his bizarre promo on the ‘Celebrity Apprentice’) this self-styled entrepreneur and wannabe-movie actor says he’s got “two to three years” of fighting left in him and hopes to fight in May.

Lorenzo Fertitta thinks Europe is the future

“We took major losses in Europe (in 2007),” Fertitta told Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports. “We didn’t make money on any of those European shows. Looking forward five years, we realise that Europe is going to be bigger than the U.S. and a lot of those fighters are going to benefit from the way we’ve cultivated the European market.”

Gary Shaw has been doing a pretty good job of pissing off Dana White

Shaw’s very public digs at the UFC president continue, with Shaw repeating his mantra that the UFC only has “club champions” and not ‘real’ world champions. White didn’t mince words in telling everyone what he thought of the ex-boxing promoter, calling him a “fucking loser” in an interview with Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports. We don’t see this little war of words ending any time soon.
