This was a massive card with fighters from all over Europe, and although there was a distinct lack of decent fighters for such a large event (it appears ‘Butterbean’ has grown a moustache and moved to Scotland to get beaten up here for a while), those that did have experience put on a good show, regardless of some dodgy refereeing and questionable judging.

Paul McVeigh took on Italy’s Christian Binda and quickly showed why he’s a champion, easily escaping Binda’s guard and keeping his composure through a hearty flurry. McVeigh worked a great butterfly guard and dealt with some decent shots (and an illegal stomp) from Brinda, getting the kneebar at 2:23.

In the final match Peter Duncan faced the much more experienced Augusto Frota, and although Duncan put up a decent fight and showed some fantastic ground defence it was Frota who was switching from sub attempts to striking and back to the subs. Duncan managed a nice sweep to end the first, but a takedown attempt went horribly wrong in the second and Frota took his back, although Duncan later landed a shot that opened up Frota’s eyebrow. Throwing a hard body kick that had Duncan going for another takedown, Frota stuck on the guillotine and got the tap at 2:52.
