Triangle from mount

1. Rosi has mount on Jon.
2. She uses two hands to pin one of Jon’s arms to the mat.
3. Rosi steps her right knee up and places it on Jon’s arm, immobilising it. From here she can stay a moment and throw strikes.
4. Releasing her control on the arm, she pulls Jon’s head up and swings her right leg around…

5. …so that her lower leg comes behind his head.
6. Before closing the triangle she can stay there and  throw strikes.
7. If Jon bridges and manages to reverse Rosi, she keeps control of his head by holding onto her shin.
8. To finish the triangle she hooks her left leg over her right lower leg. To complete the choke she pulls down on the head while pushing up with the hips and squeezing the knees together.

Triangle from closed guard

1. Jon has Rosi in his closed guard and has double wrist control.
2. He pushes one of Rosi’s arms into her belly.
3. He opens his guard and throws his right leg high and hooks it over Rosi’s neck.
4. Reverse angle – note Jon’s left foot maintains contact at the hip.

5. As soon as the leg comes over and Jon has Rosi’s head and one of her arms trapped between his legs, he immediately grabs his own leg with his left hand and holds it down, stopping Rosi from pulling up or away.
6. Jon takes his left leg and places it over his right.
7. To finish the triangle, Jon pulls down on the head while pushing up with the hips and squeezing the knees together.

Triangle from closed guard with an overhook

1. Jon has Rosi in his closed guard and has an overhook on her right arm.
2. Reverse angle – note Jon controls the arm above the elbow, making it difficult for her to pull the arm away.
3. Jon opens his guard and turns on to his right side and scoots his hips out to the left. Note the left foot placed at the hip.
4. Jon controls the far arm to prevent Rosi from punching him. He starts to bring his right leg up.

5. Controlling Rosi’s left wrist, Jon pushes into the arm with his shin, making it very difficult for Rosi to regain her posture or strike.
6. Jon brings his right leg through so that he has Rosi’s head and one arm trapped between his legs.
7. He grabs his own shin while still controlling Rosi’s left arm.

8. Jon centres his hips so that he is no longer on his side.
9. Reverse angle – Rosi’s arm is trapped low near Jon’s hip.
10. Jon closes the triangle and finishes it as before, or holds her between his legs and throws strikes.
