The gym known as “Peacock’s” is one of the most famous boxing gyms in the country. Set in Canning Town in East London, the gym sees dozens of boxers go through their doors each week. The gym has recently also seen an increasing number of Thai boxers and Mixed Martial Artists, due to the arrival of the London Thai Fighters; headed by Paul Marchent and Errol Tapper. Specialising in preparing fighters for Thai boxing competition, the head coaches have enlisted the help of numerous assistant coaches to help push along a programme of MMA and submission wrestling.
The gym itself is fantastically well equipped, boasting a weights room, two full size boxing rings, numerous punch bags of all description; not to mention a padded wrestling room, with additional floor space available upstairs. With the reputation of the Peacock gym firmly established, the gym has a real buzz to it as many genuine fight sport competitors gather to hone their skills.
Hobby fighters are more than welcome to train and share the atmosphere, though public classes are for juniors only. If you do want to get to grips with the noble art, it is done on a one-to-one basis only, and is bookable by appointment. This doesn’t prevent you from using the awesome facilities though, including the bags and rings, as well as the cardio and resistance training equipment. The place really does have the feel of a professional gym, and on any given day you’ll see plenty of famous faces being put through their paces; if you’re passing through London, certainly one to visit.
