Former UFC featherweight title challenger Mark Hominick recently retired from mixed martial arts, wanting to commit more time to his family. His last bout, at Montreal’s UFC 154 in November, came 152 UFC fight cards after his promotional debut, at UFC 58: USA vs Canada in March 2006.

Over a three-round decision win at UFC on Fox 5 in December, German featherweight Dennis Siver outstruck scrappy Nam Phan by a massive 222 to 24 in total strikes. Which lead to a landslide on the judges’ cards: 30-24, 30-25, 30-26.

At Bellator 82 in Michigan, undefeated Andrey Koreshkov outstruck Lyman Good 36-11 in power strikes before taking the judges’ decision and the welterweight tournament in December.

Fan-favourite featherweight striker Mark Hominick, who recently hung up his gloves, made the majority of his appearances for now-defunct Canadian promotion TKO. The 30-year-old stepped into the ring for the company 12 times, and was its featherweight champion. He fought seven times for the UFC, and five times for the WEC.

In November, bantamweight Nick Denis retired from MMA and his UFC contract despite only being 29 years old, citing concerns about brain trauma.

Very highly tipped Polish middleweight Mamed Khalidov scored his 14th submission win, at KSW 21 in December. It’s the route he’s used to win 54% of the time. Recently linked to a UFC contract, Khalidov tapped TUF alumnus Kendall Grove with a second-round Achilles lock.
