2H2H announce their biggest event ever

On November 12th in the Ahoy Arena, 2Hot2Handle (in association with PRIDE FC) will present Pride and Honor. PRIDE fighters that are expected to take part include Rodney Faverus, Alistair Overeem, Gilbert Yvel, Alexander Emelianenko and newcomer Gegard Mousasi.

 

The main MMA event of the evening is expected to be between Alistair Overeem and Gilbert Yvel. As with all Dutch shows, this event will also include Muay Thai fights. The Muay Thai main event will pit undefeated newcomer Tyrone Spong against one of Holland's best fighters ever Joerie Mes. European Muay Thai champion Jan Oosterbaan is also set to face Kyokushin-legend Henk Kuipers in kickboxing action.

 

No more MMA in Belgium?

A proposition for law has been presented in Belgium that would effectively eliminate MMA. The proposal would separate 'Extreme Sports' into two categories, sports that present a risk and sports that present an extreme risk, which would be sanctioned in different ways. Sports that present a risk may still take place but with government sanctioning. Sports that present an extreme risk will be banned completely.

 

Andy Souwer gets married 

Former K-1 Max champion Andy Souwer from the Netherlands tied the knot. On July 8th, Souwer married Chantal Opstraat in Den Bosch. Andy arrived in style, on the back of a white horse, at Chantal's home. When they arrived at the Town Hall, seven white doves were released. As the couple arrived from the church to the reception, Andy was surprised to find Moriyah from the Shootboxing association had made the trip.

 

Tabera and Rafiq in MARS GP

Spaniard Daniel Tabera and Frenchman Bryan Rafiq have been announced to take part in the GCM: MARS Grand Prix. The Grand Prix will be an eight man -185lb/84Kg tournament, set to take place on August 26th. Two other fighters have been named to compete, Leonard Nascimento 'Chocolate' Lucio and Bastiaan Rejen.

 

Shut Up and Shoot

The film Shut Up and Shoot made its Dutch Cinema premiere on July 2nd. The film is produced by Bas Boon and Frederico Lapenda, who also made Bad Guys and Nightmare man, and stars Bas Rutten and Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson.

 

Kongo wins at the UFC

Cheick Kongo, the first French fighter to appear in the UFC, won his debut fight at UFC 61. Despite getting taken down twice, the Muay Thai champion got back to his feet and KO'd his opponent Gilbert Aldana shortly before the end of the first round.

 

K-1 Heros Lithuania

The date has been announced for the next K-1 Heros Lithuania as November 11th. The event will take place in the Siemens arena in Vinius as of yet no details have been given on who will fight.
