The Machine’s Ground ‘n’ Pound is well-known all over the world and - for the first-time ever - Ian shows how he does it. Ground ‘n’ Pound works really well from the closed guard position as a technique or to make your opponent open his guard.
MOVE ONE When in opponent’s closed guard, sit back on your heels and adopt the fight stance, ready to strike.
MOVE TWO Underhook your opponent’s opposite arm with a thumbless grip, making sure your forearm is tight againt your opponent’s chest/stomach.
MOVE THREE Strike opponent with your free arm while still holding oponent’s arm with your underhook.
MOVE FOUR Your opponent covers his face so that you cannot hit it.
MOVE FIVE Overhook your opponent’s defending arm with a thumbless grip. Pull down, trapping your opponent’s forearm with your elbow tight to the stomach.
MOVE SIX While still applying pressure with your overhook, release your underhook and strike opponent.
