Cagewarriors held ‘Strike Force: UK vs France’ on Saturday June 21 at the Coventry Sky Dome. This event will unfortunately also be remembered for its unsavoury and unsportsmanlike conclusion. The French representatives dominated the show, claiming seven victories to the UK’s two. The trouble, however, came after the main heavyweight event when crowd favourite, Coventry’s own Barrington Patterson, lost to Marc Emmanuel via a TKO in the very first round. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt as enraged and alcohol-fuelled fans threw objects into the octagon, as opposed to saluting the efforts of the two brave warriors, one of who was receiving medical attention.

However, despite the shameless post-show scenes the Cagewarriors team delivered a strong show. There were several title changes including Danny Batten overcoming Emmanuel Fernandez to capture the Cagewarriors Fighting Championships (CWFC) Featherweight title and Antonio Silva winning the CWFC Cagewarriors Super-heavyweight title from Marcus Tchinda via a TKO in the first round. The much disputed no-contest came in the Cagewarriors Middleweight title fight between Damien Riccio and the Champion Matt Ewin. Other results included victories for Mohamed El-Aouji, Bendy Casmir, Boris Jonstomp, David Baron, Gregory Bouchelaghem and Cyrille Diabaté.

Having been forced to drop the Ultimate Fight Club name due to legal issues promoter Farzin Malakfam presented the replacement, Fight Club UK: Battle Of The Gladiators, on May 28 in Sheffield. In the main event Hassan Muridi defeated Paul Jenkins in round one via a rear naked choke. Fellow Ian Freeman student Abdul Mohamed was victorious, winning via a TKO against Sami Berik. There were also wins for Robert ‘Buzz’ Berry, Gena Kachenka, Alex Sandro

and, in a woman’s bantamweight cage kickboxing clash, Julia Ingram triumphed over Bridie Murphy via a judges decision after an extra round.
