Issue 006
August 2005
Hello again fight fans, it’s been a while, how have you been!
Firstly we’d like to apologising to you all for the problems we have had with issue 5 of the magazine. It was a very difficult situation for us to face as the 5th issue is truly a belter. As a result, we have printed a bulk order and have them in stock at our office and anyone who wishes to collect and keep the full series of ‘Fighters Only’ as well as get to read the news, reviews, features, training tips and competitions that were available please do not hesitate to contact our lovely administration manager Katrina with your details and we will mail you a copy of the magazine direct to your door for no extra cost other than the £3.50 cover price. We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience which the paper shortage caused and hope that this delivery service will give some benefit. Please either email or call Katrina on [email protected] or 0191 2111947 or 0845 2300449.
So, onwards and upwards with this month’s issue, and what an issue it is! This month the fighter in profile is my good friend Jeremy Horn. In addition to his life story find a UFC 54 preview on his forthcoming showdown with Chuck Liddell for the UFC Light heavyweight Championship belt. Read Ken Pishna’s report on the up coming bouts including all the behind the scenes gossip and fight predictions.
Cage Rage 12 was, yet again, another great success with some top class fighters really bringing some heat. Read Hywell Teague’s excellent report with fantastic images by the phenomenal Kjetil Flaggbrikken. Paul Harrison brings us this month’s Classic Fight between ‘The Natural’ Randy Couture and my old mentor and best friend Josh Barnett. This really was a crowning moment for Josh and goes to prove that no matter how good and technical a fighter you are, conditioning and fitness will always play a major role. ‘Are you listening Hassan?’
We have an exclusive interview with the legendary ‘Big’ John McCarthy. Here his insights into the fight game, the fighters and everything that goes on in and outside of the octagon.
As usual we have our regular Brazilian Reports from our man in Brazil, Denis Martins. Denis brings us Jungle Fight reports as well as his usual update from the Brazilian training camps.
