Darren Till may still be nursing a broken collarbone, but it looks like the UFC is lining up a fight for him in the coming months.
According to ESPN, the promotion is hoping to book the Liverpudlian in a fight against Derek Brunson on 14 August. This contest could determine the next UFC middleweight title challenger after champion Israel Adesanya puts his belt on the line against Marvin Vettori next month at UFC 263.
Till was supposed to fight Italy’s Vettori at UFC on ABC 2 in April, before that freak training injury saw him sit on the sidelines. “The Italian Dream” went on to face Kevin Holland on short notice, winning a dominant unanimous decision to earn his title shot.
Though he appears to be on the cusp of a title shot, Till has lost three of his last four bouts – dropping defeats to then-UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, Jorge Masvidal and former UFC middleweight king Robert Whittaker in his last outing.
As for Brunson, the 37-year-old is riding a wave of four consecutive victories, his last two seeing him bat away upcoming contenders Edmen Shahbazyan and the aforementioned Kevin Holland.
At the time of writing, there is no confirmed location of this fight. Though, former UFC middleweight champion-turned broadcaster Michael Bisping let slip on Twitter that he will be commentating at the event in London, before deleting that Tweet.
