Mason Jones has followed in the footsteps of two other Cage Warriors two-division champions in Conor McGregor and Dan Hardy by signing with the UFC.
The fighting pride of Wales, Jones announced he had signed his four-fight UFC contract on Instagram.

“The Dragon”, who boasts an unbeaten record of 10-0, seven wins coming by either KO or submission, won the Cage Warriors welterweight championship at the end of September when he stopped Adam Proctor in the first round at CW 116.
CW 116, as well as the other Cage Warriors: The Trilogy events, was sponsored by our partners Envisage MMA. Head here to check out their range of products, including their pre-workout coffee.
In his fight previous to that, he scored another TKO win – this time over Joe McColgan – at CW 113 to lift the promotion’s lightweight gold.
Despite his welterweight triumph, it appears lightweight will be Jones’ home in the UFC, joining the aforementioned McGregor in the division.
“The Notorious” won Cage Warriors championships at featherweight and then lightweight before heading to the UFC where he also held titles in two different weight classes simultaneously.
Hardy’s two Cage Warriors championships come with a slight caveat. “The Outlaw” won the Cage Warriors light welterweight championship at 165 pounds before vacating that belt when he won the Cage Warriors welterweight title. The light welterweight division was then scrapped to create the one welterweight division at 170 pounds.
The Nottingham native also had an impressive career in the UFC, winning his way to challenge Georges St-Pierre for his UFC welterweight championship in 2010. Hardy’s MMA career was cut short when he was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome in 2013, but he hopes for an Octagon return someday.
Can Jones emulate the successes seen by those previous Cage Warriors champions in the UFC? We’ll find out soon enough.
