After months of back-and-forth with teammates likes Jorge Masvidal and Dustin Poirier, it seems Colby Covington has finally parted ways with American Top Team.

Fans and journalists saw that Covington was removed from the camp’s welterweight roster on their website on Tuesday.

Wednesday, Covington confirmed the news for himself in an interview with The Score.

“I’m not a member of American Top Team in Coconut Creek,” Covington said in his candid interview. “I’m a member of Colby Covington, Inc. I’m a member of Colby Covington business and Colby Covington team. This is my team now. You can direct your complaints at me.”

Though the former interim UFC welterweight champion is leaving American Top Team, it appears some of his coaches at the gym will be helping him out on an individual, one-on-one basis.

“We’re still in the process of putting together a team for Colby Covington Incorporated,” he told The Score. “I have some great coaches around me. I haven’t changed my coaches and training partners a lot – I still have a lot of the same training partners and coaches – but we’re just on our own time and doing our own thing.

“Not affiliated with ATT in any way, shape or form. It’s the best change that could every happen to me.”

Covington went on to say his relationship with ATT owner Dan Lambert isn’t strained after making this decision. Instead, he says he will respect Lambert until “the day I die.”

The Oregon native hasn’t competed in the cage since his fifth round TKO loss to Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight championship at UFC 245.

In terms of his next opponent, he has plenty of suitors – including aforementioned former teammates Masvidal and Poirier – but no plans are currently in place as “Chaos” seeks to work his way back into title contention.
