UFC welterweight Leon Edwards signed a new contract with the UFC, according to his management company Paradigm Sports Management.

“Congratulations to Leon Edwards on signing a new deal with the UFC,” a statement read. “With the upcoming main event in London and beyond Leon is primed for a huge 2020.”

Birmingham’s Edwards is set to face former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at the upcoming UFC London event at the O2 Arena on 21 March.

With a record of 18-3, Edwards is currently riding a streak of eight wins in a row and a win over Woodley could see him finally get his shot at winning the UFC welterweight championship.

“Rocky” holds wins over respected names such as Rafael dos Anjos, Gunnar Nelson, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, and Vicente Luque.

It will be interesting to see what 2020 has in store for him.
