The UFC is set to return to the O2 Arena in London, England on March 22 and there has been speculation about who Leon Edwards could face after he announced that he will return on this card.
One of the top welterweights in the division, the #5-ranked Sean Brady, has put his hand up to be the away fighter and welcome "Rocky" back to the Octagon.
The 32-year old recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show where he called for this fight because in his opinion, it's the clear match-up to make right now:
"I just think if you look at the rankings and you look at how everything's playing out and who's available, me and Leon make the most sense."
Brady is coming off of back-to-back wins over Kelvin Gastelum and Gilbert Burns to bounce back from the first defeat of his career against Belal Muhammad at UFC 280.
He said that going to London to fight the home town favourite is something that motivates him to get this fight rather than it being a turn off.
"If you look at it, I think for me historically, I would want to go somewhere and prove myself because my first loss did come while I was travelling to Belal and I'm a completely different fight now so I just want to prove it to myself that I can go somewhere, go in someone's backyard and win a fight."
Brady's only concern about taking this fight is that he and his wife are expecting a child in February but considering what would be at stake in a fight against the number one contender, he's willing to take that risk.
If this doesn't materialise for him, the Philadelphia native wants to get back in there in April against the likes of Jack Della Maddalena or Joaquin Buckley but for now, his priority is Edwards and that's what he's pushing for.
"Whatever's going to get me fights and just get me active, that's what I'm willing to do but I think me and Leon in March would be honestly perfect because if you look at the division, there's no one. Most of these guys just fought or they're not fighting. I'm #5, he's #1, I think it makes perfect sense."
