A four-time World Jiu-Jitsu Championships gold medal winner, UFC Vinny Magalhaes shares one of his best submission moves - this time the Fredson Paixao Clock Choke. Vinny demonstrates using training partner Scott.
1: Vinny (in white) has side ride on Scott, with his right hand under his opponent’s right arm grabbing his right lapel.
2: Instead of pulling Scott’s lapel down to feed it to his left hand, when Vinny reaches under Scott’s chin with his left hand, he pushes the lapel up, allowing his left hand to grab deeper on the collar.
3: When Vinny’s left thumb is high inside Scott’s collar, then he pulls the lapel down and grips it with his left hand.
4: To help prevent Scott sitting down to his right-hip and pulling guard, Vinny lifts his newly freed right arm over Scott’s right
shoulder and posts his hand on the mat.
5: From here, Vinny slides through with his right foot – similar to how he would for a kesa gatame, or scarf hold, position.
6: Vinny pulls on Scott’s lapel with his left hand to finish the hold.
