SPIDER GUARD SWEEP TO ARMBAR:

1: Vinny (white gi) starts off using the spider guard – gripping Scott’s right sleeve with his left arm, left sleeve with his right arm, and holding his left foot against Scott’s right biceps while his right foot is on Scott’s left hip.

2: Ensuring his left leg is extended, stretching Scott out, Vinny takes his right foot off Scott’s hip and hooks it behind Scott’s left knee.

3: Vinny moves Scott’s body over his head by pulling Scott’s left arm away from his body. In doing so, Vinny is looking to force Scott to move his left leg closer to Vinny’s shoulder so he doesn’t lose balance.

4: When Scott does, Vinny releases his right-hand grip on Scott’s left sleeve and hooks under and over his left thigh.

5: Vinny switches his left foot from Scott’s right bicep to his right knee, and straightens both of his legs pushing Scott up into the air.

6: Vinny sits up and pushes with his right arm as he pulls with his left, while continuing to push with his legs, throwing Scott onto his back.

7: Should he land in side control, Vinny is in position to finish with the armbar. First, placing his right knee on Scott’s belly.

8: Maintaining his grip control, Vinny swings his left leg over Scott’s head then leans back for the armbar, pushing his hips up to get the submission.
