Issue 138

SKILL: FINISH FROM A STANDING SINGLE-LEG: A) HEAD CUFF

1: Kenny has Pedro’s leg secured at the ankle, locked high in his armpit in a standing single-leg position.

2: As Pedro leans in to tie Kenny up and counter the single-leg, Kenny cuffs Pedro’s head as hard and fast as possible.

3: Kenny puts Pedro’s head to his knee and walks in the opposite direction trying to set Pedro down.

4: Kenny puts Pedro on the ground. When Pedro lands, Kenny is always on both feet. Kenny has Pedro’s leg secure. He can look to finish with ankle locks or heel hooks, pass the guard, and so on.

FINISH FROM A STANDING SINGLE-LEG: B) POST AND RUN

1: On a single-leg in the up position Kenny can be either outside the leg (left) or inside the leg (right).

2: Opting for inside the leg, Kenny makes sure he has Pedro’s leg secured at the ankle, locked high in his armpit in a standing single-leg position.

3: Kenny pushes off like Usain Bolt in the starting block and posts his hand into Pedro’s shoulder on the same side he’s holding the leg.

4: Kenny continues driving forward until Pedro falls.
