Many fights look great on paper yet fail to live up to its heady billing. But you can safely bet your house on the newly-announced bout between Yancy Medeiros and Mike Perry making plenty of headlines for all the right reasons come UFC 226.
UFC 226 is slated to take place at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on July 7th, punctuating the UFC’s now-traditional International Fight Week.
The booking was originally reported by Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal before its formal announcement made by the UFC.
This fight is of great importance to both fighters as they go into the fight fresh from defeat.
Hawaiian Medeiros suffered a first-round TKO loss to Donald Cerrone back in February, putting a stop to his impressive three-fight winning streak – all by finish – since moving up to welterweight in 2016.
Michigan-born Floridian Perry is currently riding a two-fight losing streak, dropping tough unanimous decisions to Santiago Ponzinibbio and then Max Griffin.
Including Madeiros – Perry, only four fights have been formally announced for UFC 226 so far.
Record-breaking UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic defends his belt against UFC light heavyweight king Daniel Cormier in a historic headline bout.
Elsewhere on the card, top bantamweights Raphael Assuncao and Rob Font face off, while kickboxing phenom Gokhan Saki takes on Khalil Rountree Jr.
