Issue 178

The laws on horse meat consumption differ across the US. In states where production for dining tables is illegal, reports have emerged of privately owned horses being rustled for their meat. But does loading up on a mustang really turn you into a stallion?

The nutritional values certainly say so. Horse meat has around 20% more protein than beef, while being only half the calories. If you’re looking to bulk up and cut up, then horsemeat is perfect as it also contains 75% less fat than beef.

The taste is described as sweet, halfway between beef and venison, and it is lean but tender. Of course, eating what could otherwise be a faithful steed isn’t for everyone, but it is a sure-fire way to pile on the muscle without bulging out the belly.
