Dillashaw – welterweight GOAT, visiting Trump at the White House, a rematch for DJ?, Ronda Rousey at WWE and DC or Lesnar from four top pros.
The Pro's
1: With T.J. Dillashaw’s second convincing win over Cody Garbrandt, does he claim the title as bantamweight G.O.A.T or is there a better candidate?
ALAN JOUBAN:
I think he definitely has an argument now. One more defense against a top opponent or avenging his controversial loss to Cruz would solidify it.
DAVID RICKELS:
The way he beat Renan Barao and now he has finished Cody twice. In my eyes he is the best. He’s taking on the best of the best.
The only thing I could see him doing to secure this title would be to beat Dominick Cruz in convincing fashion.
SHANE KRUCHTEN:
I’m actually a big fan of TJ’s, but I’m going to stick with my view that the best in that division is still none other than fellow San Diego fighter Dominick Cruz.
STEVE GARCIA:
No I don’t believe that Dillashaw deserves that name. Cruz still holds that title and has a win over TJ but with a win over Cruz that could change things.
2: Dana White and interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington recently visited President Trump at the White House. Would you have any interest in making that trip?
ALAN JOUBAN:
I would. I don’t agree with Trump on a lot of things, but I’d put that aside for the chance to visit the White House and meet someone in person to get a little better understanding of who they really are.
DAVID RICKELS:
I’d make the trip. Hell yeah. I give zero shits about politics. But I’m pretty sure an Instagram post with the President might get my followers up...or down...I’m undecided!
SHANE KRUCHTEN:
I would make that trip in a heartbeat, I had the rare honor of being at President Trump’s Inaugural Ball when he spoke to us.
That was an honor and something that could only be topped with a visit inside the Oval Office.
STEVE GARCIA:
I would absolutely find interest in visiting the White House. Any American should!
3: Does longtime flyweight king Demetrious Johnson deserve an immediate rematch after losing his title in a somewhat controversial decision to Henry Cejudo?
ALAN JOUBAN:
Absolutely. If any champ deserves it, it’s DJ. It all really depends on when he is willing and able to come back. For Cejudo to want super fights he needs to show the world that he can do it again and he is a dominant champ.
DAVID RICKELS:
If his ankle, foot or whatever was really broken on top of the close fight, I feel like boss hog Dana White needs to take that into consideration. I’d definitely watch it. I was really hoping for a champ versus champ fight with Killashaw though.
SHANE KRUCHTEN:
100%, no doubt! Congrats to Henry on winning the belt but it’s not like he knocked DJ out or stopped him. It was a split decision.
STEVE GARCIA:
Yes I do believe DJ deserves a rematch, especially with all that he’s done but I think I’d prefer to see Dillashaw vs Cejudo at 135 before the rematch.
4: Has Ronda Rousey impressed and entertained you during her time in the squared circle of the WWE?
ALAN JOUBAN:
Yeah I’m happy for her. She’s found a new career and is flourishing with it.
DAVID RICKELS:
I have literally seen zero footage of her with the WWE. I do watch old WWF highlights with my son though. Those were the glory days.
SHANE KRUCHTEN:
Honestly I haven’t watched much, but from what I have seen she has not.
But the thing I commend her on is that she knows that she needs to grow and she’s not scared to work on it.
STEVE GARCIA:
I don’t really follow Ronda Rousey but I’m sure most people are entertained.
5: Newly-crowned two-divisional champion, Daniel Cormier is rumored to be facing Brock Lesnar soon. If it happens, who walks away with the gold strap?
ALAN JOUBAN:
Absolutely DC. Brock hasn’t fought in years and DC (like Cain) is a bad stylistic match-up for Brock.
DAVID RICKELS:
100% DC. I can’t blame the guy for wanting an easy fight after matching up with all killers (laughs).
SHANE KRUCHTEN:
Daniel Cormier walks out with the belt that night! The fact that Brock even gets a title shot coming straight back into the UFC after popping on a test for PEDs is beyond me. But good on Daniel, that’s an easy fight and will make a nice payday for him.
STEVE GARCIA:
I think DC will walk away with a win over Lesnar. Most of his opposition are much bigger and he seems to come out on top anyways.
