If there’s one thing we know, it’s this: Britain loves a heavyweight.
It’s with enthusiasm, then, that the Brits welcome James Mulheron, an Englishman who will make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 113 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Mulheron, 29, wasn’t originally scheduled to appear on the July 16 show at the SSE Hydro, but was drafted in today as a replacement for fellow Brit Mark Godbeer, who withdrew from his fight with Justin Willis on account of injury.
Mulheron, from South Shields, has long been expected to join the UFC ranks, having turned pro in 2012, and has won eleven of his first twelve MMA bouts. Fighting predominantly for Made 4 The Cage, Mulheron scored a notable win against Neil Grove on a Bellator show in July 2016 and has secured six of his eleven wins via knockout. At twenty-nine, he seems ready to make the jump.
His opponent, San Jose’s Willis, a 29-year-old with a knockout win over Juliano Coutinho, also makes his UFC debut.
Octagon jitters guaranteed, Scottish fans can look forward to plenty of nervous energy and plenty of wild swings when Mulheron and Willis lock horns in Glasgow.
